Nu-Disco

Live basslines and disco parts, built for a house floor.

Nu-disco is deep house that kept the band. Real bass, string stabs and arrangements that move rather than loop — the sound Metro Area made on Environ around 2001, taking disco apart and rebuilding it with a drum machine's patience.

It ages unusually well, partly because it was never chasing a club trend. A good nu-disco record works at home at eleven in the morning, which is not true of much of this music.
